| I Can Do This There’s a little boy waiting for the busOn third avenues edge
 He holds twenty-five cents
For the ride in his freezing fist.
Cos that’s the only way he can
Make it across town for an education
But he thinks, I can do this.
There’s a little girl on theOther side of the city
 Drying her eyes.
 Because she’s going to school
 With her new look
 for the first time.
 She pulls her hat over
 Her balding head and
 Gives her mom a kiss
And she says, I can do this.
They try so hard each dayJust to survive
Two kids, so young, so precious
Having to fight for their lives
Their so strong, even after all
 The heartache they’ve
 been living with
And if they can do that
 I can do this.
There’s a woman in a bedroomPacking up her bags.
She knows she has to move fast
If she wants to get away.
She looks at her body covered
 In bruises and then she
 turns to her kids
And thinks, I can do this.
They try so hard each dayJust to survive
 A mother and her children
Having to run for their lives
Their so strong, even after all
 The heartache they’ve
 been living with
And if they can do that
 I can do this.
Yes this is the hardest thingI’ve ever had to do
But when I think of all the
 Pain and suffering
 Others have gone through
I know that somehow I’ll survive
 God will see us through
I can do thisI can do this
 I can do this
 God will see us through

                                | This song was penned by Rachel Thibodeaux and chosen as the title cut of this inspirational album.  Throughout my life I have felt so honored that people have shared so many of their personal experiences with me.  My heart has broken many times as I’ve read or listened to their stories.  These lyrics touched my heart deeply and relate that whatever the heartache one suffers, there is an attitude of determination and hope for all that helps us survive all of our challenges.  I know personally, that by keeping this constant prayer of faith lit within us that “God will see us through,”  that He will sustain us when our hearts and dreams are broken, even in those darkest hours.  We are promised in the scriptures that we will never be given more than we can handle, which comforts us to know “I Can Do This.”  Through every difficulty we overcome, these words are imprinted deeper and deeper in the very fiber of our souls.  With this kind of faith we can become stronger in the knowledge that the Savior can will walk by our side, even carry us when needed.  This not only a belief in me anymore.  My belief has turned into knowing through handling my life’s challenges with this faith and my knowledge has turned into the wisdom that God’s promises are real.  – Marie Osmond | |
